Planning approval granted for a basement excavation in conjunction with loft and side extensions to a Family home in Wandsworth

Alex Tart Architects have obtained planning permission for extensions over three floors as well as a new basement in Wandsworth. The corner property lies on Broomwood rd running between Clapham and Wandsworth Commons. The alterations include a significant loft extension, first and ground floor extensions as well as internal remodelling.

Following an informative pre-application meeting, we have successfully combined the approved works with our client’s permitted development rights to achieve a generous second floor extension which would otherwise have been contested on this prominent corner site.

The building was previously the home of William Wilberforce during his campaign against slavery and an existing ceramic plaque on the external wall, commemorating Wilberforce and his achievement will be preserved and re-presented in the new work.
